Diego Saenz

Diego Saenz, RRCC

Diego is a business AA major graduating this year. He is the current Student Government Vice President, Historian for the National Society of Black Engineers, and participates in Rainbow Alliance, Space Grant, Psychology Club, Improv Club, and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) activities. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, climbing, reading, hanging out with friends, volleyball, Zumba, and listening to Harry Potter lofi beats.

At RRCC he started off in engineering and quickly found a passion for humanities and leadership through the John U. Trefny Honors program lead by Dr. Matt Garcia. The IDEA lab was one of the first places he volunteered at. There he met many friends who helped create workshop for students with dyslexia for the Vertical Skills Academy. Later on, new discoveries he found were all thanks to the career services staff and opportunities offered on the campus. In the Summer of 2023, thanks to Jennifer Lammers, he was lucky enough to interview and land an internship for the Department of Homeland Security at FEMA. There he met many people who were excited and dedicated to helping others through planning, investigation, and execution.

In the Spring 2024 semester, he had help from the staff at Student Life (Sara Oviatt, Katelyn Martin, Summer Eberhardt) and the clubs on campus, to startup Club Carnival. He hopes this new plan and tradition will continue and transform into a spring festival for all students, giving them a chance to have fun and view all the opportunities offered at RRCC.

At the moment he is waiting to hear back from schools on transfer decision and his future career goals are still being decided. Post-undergraduate, he is considering law school, and might work in industries such as government, public policy, world affairs, intelligence, entertainment, non-profit, or private business.
