We are excited to invite you to the 2023 Chancellor’s Summit on Adult Education! Our meeting will be a full-day of sessions and keynotes in the heart of Denver. It’s free to attend, and we’re looking for your help! The event is set to occur at the Tivoli Turnhalle, on Thursday, June 1, 2023. This is an in-person event and will not include a remote option.
Two fantastic keynote speakers will join us; Dr. Royel Johnson from the University of Southern California and Dr. Denise Henning from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
- Dr. Royel Johnson is a nationally recognized scholar whose interdisciplinary research addresses educational access, racial equity, and student success. “His work has an unapologetic focus on Black and other marginalized populations like those impacted by criminal punishment, child welfare, and inequitable educational systems” (see: https://www.royeljohnson.com/about).
- Dr. Denise Henning is a proud Cherokee/Choctaw/British woman born in Creek County, Oklahoma. Her over 20-year experience in higher education includes serving as the President and CEO at Medicine Hat College, President and CEO of Northwest Community College, President and vice-chancellor for University College of the North, and Vice-President of Academic and Research at First Nations University of Canada. Denise’s research focuses on indigenous students, and she serves as PCC’s Equity Consultant for CCCS’ Foundation Lumina subgrant involving two Ute tribes.
Additionally, we will have over a dozen breakout sessions, including presentations of the 16 Lumina subgrants to the colleges.
