Dr. Shirley “Sheryl” Smith currently works as a fulltime Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Business at Community College of Denver and Affiliate Professor of Management at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Leadership, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Entrepreneurship. She has used those skills to be placed in a position where she lead up to 5,300 members towards enhancing their communication and leadership skills. The district was so successful; they traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to share their strategies. She was also invited in 2018 to be a guest scholar at University of Jinan, China. Dr. Smith has also held noteworthy leadership roles in Corporate America.
Dr. Smith says nothing pleases her more than operating in her passion which is being productive for an organization, creating equity for the students, and being an agent of global change. She is active in community service and the promotion of diversity and inclusion, as is evident by her roles serving as Past President American Association for Women in Community Colleges, Past District Governor (Toastmasters International Texas D56), Board Member of Greater Education Colorado, Denver NAACP Education Chair, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
