Robley Welliver teaches words and ideas with amazing students. Her students are refugees from Afghanistan and Myanmar, from Sudan, Mexico, El Salvador, and the streets in the United States. Her students are war veterans, recovering addicts, parents, athletes, artists, poets, and scholars. They are undocumented and DACA, and diversity Visa lottery recipients. They speak more languages than she knew existed, and they forgive her when she mispronounces their names. They are first generation college students and the students of college professors. They are office workers, construction workers, unemployed, and home workers. They are future doctors, translators, nurses, and pharmacists. They will be musicians, performers, creators, and teachers. They are gifted and talented and they are neurodivergent. They make films, tell stories, create change, and bring love to everything they do. Professor Welliver has learned everything she ever needed to know from the students and colleagues at the Community College of Aurora.
