In this session participants will learn social emotional facilitation strategies and recommended practices for supporting adult learners and diverse learning communities within the critical first weeks of the semester. Through the examination of the adult learning theory framework, participants will have an opportunity to pause and reflect with colleagues about what is known about how adults learn, each adult learner as an individual, and the social and cultural contexts in which adult learners live. Participants will gain knowledge and have opportunities to practice social emotional facilitation strategies that support improvements in student learning, student success, and closing equity gaps; and how to apply those strategies and technologies in their classroom and pedagogical practices.
